Meet Kelly

Meet Kelly Barton, our incredible Assistant General Manager at Pure Blossom and a proud mom of two! Kelly has been a Jersey Girl her whole life. Kelly is always ready to share her wisdom and knowledge; come by and say hi!

What has shaped your views on cannabis?

I have been an enthusiast since college. I definitely experienced the recreational benefits. However, when I was diagnosed with a chronic pain condition my views and relationship with the plant and its benefits changed.

How did you get your start in cannabis?

As a NJ Medical Marijuana Patient. When the medical program’s requirements were loosened, my doctor was very excited to get me into the program. Knowing how much cannabis has positively impacted my health and life, I wanted to be a part of helping other people.

What sets Pure Blossom apart from other dispensaries

Pure Blossom feels like a sanctuary from the outside world. Our team has curated a space of inclusivity and openness. We want you to enjoy coming to see us! We aim to give each customer a personalized experience and hope that we send each person away smiling and maybe having learned something new.

What advice do you have for women entering the cannabis industry?

Keep making your voices heard! Women have been integral in shaping the NJ market and women owned companies have been at the forefront of the Recreational Market. I have met some of the smartest and most capable people, who happen to be women, in this industry and I continue to be amazed by their strength and perseverance. My advice is, there is a place for everyone in this industry. It might take a moment to find your spot but when you do you, it will be so rewarding!

What advice do you have for moms facing judgment or criticism for their interest in or use of cannabis?

Education! The stigma carried with cannabis is so outdated. Being well-informed allows you to respond to criticism with facts and not fear. Also, finding a community of like-minded individuals. Parenting can be isolating, but surrounding yourself with supportive people makes a world of difference. We know so much more about the wellness benefits of cannabis and Pure Blossom is focused on educating our customers about intentional consumption.

How you communicate to your son or teenage daughter about cannabis when they’re years away from being able to consume it legally?

Establishing open communication early on sets the foundation for ongoing discussions as they grow older. I use appropriate language and present them with facts. The key is being open and honest (age appropriately) to create an environment where they feel comfortable being open and honest with me. They know cannabis use is for adults only but when the time comes, they can always come to me.

How do you see the future of cannabis evolving in NJ, and what role does Pure Blossom play in that vision?

The New Jersey Cannabis market has changed so much since I got involved. I’m so excited to see the innovations New Jersey companies, including Pure Blossom, will continue to bring to the Garden State. The biggest change I hope to see is the stigma around consumption be removed, which is why Pure Blossom is so focused on fact-based education and intentional consumption.

If you were to develop a cannabis strain that reflects your personality, what would you name it and what kind of experience would it offer?

Amethyst Shore Dream. An indica-dominant hybrid perfect for relaxing at a bonfire on the beach at sunset.

Anything else you would like to add?

I’m very excited to bring a new business to Pennington and hopefully become a vehicle for good in the area. It’s been a pure joy meeting and serving the people of Pennington and the surrounding areas.
